Woodward, Okla., – Congratulations to The City of Cherokee and the Town of Helena! Both received Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) to construct and rehabilitate their water storage tanks.
The Town of Helena received over $350,000.00 in grant funds from the Okla. Dept. of Commerce (ODOC) along with a Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) loan through the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) to construct their new tank. Construction began January 2017 and was completed in July 2017. The total project cost for the water storage tank was approximately $550,000.00.
The City of Cherokee received a $157,000.00 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the Okla. Dept. of Commerce (ODOC) for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of their city’s tank. Construction began in August 2017 and was completed in December 2017. The total project cost for the rehabilitation of the water storage tank was approximately $250,000.00.
The Oklahoma Department of Commerce, Oklahoma Water Resources Board, Councils of Government (COG) and USDA – Rural Development all provide funding sources such as grants and loans for various types of water and wastewater infrastructure improvements.
